Rules and Procedures of the Debating Competition
1. Hindi and English are the official languages of the debating competition.
2. Every participant will be allotted 10 minutes in total. 5 minutes to present their core arguments and 5 minutes for cross-questioning.
3. The timekeeper will ring the bell after the passage of 4 minutes and then again after the allotted speaking time of 5 minutes is over.
4. Judgment will be made on basis of logical, coherent and meaningful statements, rather than loud, unclear, rhetorical and argumentative statements.
5. Prior to starting their oral presentation, participants should introduce themselves to the chair and judges.
6. Visual aids (posters/banners/handouts) can be used.
7. Participants will not be interrupted, either by judges or by the audience/other participants, to convey any point whatsoever. Any objection can be raised during the questioning time of 5 minutes.

2. Discussion will proceed thematically, that is, one theme will be taken up at a time.
3. Participants are advised not to diverge from themes while stating their points. Failure to comply will result in deduction of marks.
4. Participants should raise their hand before speaking. Interruptions or arbitrary interventions will not be permitted.
5. Kindly follow the principle of enlightened discussion and not debate.
6. Judgment will be made on basis of logical, coherent and meaningful statements, rather than loud, unclear, rhetorical and argumentative statements.
7. Participants are advised to regulate their body language and expressions, both towards other participants and in general.
